Okay so in order for this blog to get rolling I feel I need a bit of my background so here it goes…
2009 has been a shitty, shitty, shitty year for me, and that’s putting it mildly.
This time last year, I had recently gotten back from Europe, had a well paying (but still lame) job, and was looking for an apartment in San Francisco with my best friend. I was just your average 24 year old girl having a great time.
Fast Forward to Februray 15, 2009. “Oh hey! Our company is folding. You’re laid off.” Awesome! February 24, 2009 “I don’t think this relationship is going to work.” Fantastic dude! Just what I want to hear. And that was just February. Other highlights of this year were my Grandmother dying, my car getting all of it’s windows smashed in by some hoodlums, my credit cards getting stolen, and a million other little things.
Instead of dwelling on all they shittiness (well maybe I dwelled a little), I tried to think positive thoughts. Even though I didn’t have a real job anymore, I was babysitting a couple days a week for a family I completely and utterly adore and was able to pay all my bills. Unable to afford horseback riding at an A-Circuit barn anymore, I arranged a meeting with my (horse) trainer to let her know I was going to have to quit riding, a sport I have be involved with since I was 8 years old. She knew how much this upset me and offered to let me ride in 3 lessons a week in exchange for helping out at the barn on the weekends. Yes! Oh and my dad paid to have all my broken windows replaced. All in all things were not great, but they were not terrible either. I was getting by.
Then, this past week rolled around and it has been unbelieveably great. First, I got into the London School of Economic’s online program. I never finished my degree and it’s something I really, truly, regret. Now I have a chance to fix that. Then two days later, my trainer told me she thinks I have been working really had and she wants to give me a free lease on one of the most talented/expensive horses in the barn, who also happens to be my favorite. I have been riding at this barn for 8 years and she has never done that for anyone ever. A lease is at least about $1000 a month! I’m super grateful. Then a friend whom I haven’t spoken to in 2 years (due to a big blowout we had), but one whom I miss dearly emails me out of the blue apologizing for a stupid things he did. The only thing that could make this week any better is for that lotto ticket I bought a couple days ago to be the jackpot winner!
So basically that’s what’s been going on for me. I’m sure most of my post will reference something off of here, so now you know.
